Design with colour in an accessible way

Make sure that people with low or partial vision and/or colour vision deficiencies can perceive all web content that communicates information.

Do not rely on colour alone

Information communicated through colour must also be made available in a way that does not use colour.

Contrast for text and images of text

Any text or image of text needs to have sufficient contrast for sighted users to be able to read it.

Contrast for non-text content

Non-text content, such as graphical objects or active user interface components, needs to have sufficient contrast for sighted users to be able to see what it is and the meaning that it conveys.

Other colour and contrast considerations
